The Alliance is conducting a volunteer work day at the Hillside Prairie and Savanna on Saturday, October 8th, (9:00am to 1:00pm) to continue the great work started by a crew of volunteers during the REI/SPCA Volunteer Stewardship Day on Saturday September 24th. On that day, 37 volunteers helped eradicate invasive shrubs from a steep slope adjoining a high quality oak grove in an effort to restore the site to oak savanna.
Interested volunteers should meet at the main entrance gate to Badger along Highway 12 between Sauk City and Baraboo, across from the Citgo gas station in Bluffview, just before 9:00am. The work day will proceed rain or shine, so be prepared for the weather! Wear good work or hiking shoes/boots, long pants and long-sleaved shirts (there is poison ivy present) and work gloves. The Alliance will provide water and snacks.
