As a follow up to an evening presentation about the herptiles (reptiles and amphibians) of the Badger property on April 20, Mike Mossman and Noah Anderson (UW-Baraboo) will lead a tour to Badger on Monday, April 24. Meet at the Badger entrance gate (Hwy 12, across from the Citgo Station between Sauk City and Baraboo) at 7:30pm, return at 9:30.
Join Mike and Noah on this night-time excursion into Badger to listen for several species of frogs as they sing from their breeding ponds. You’ll learn the songs of different species and their habitat needs, and we’ll listen for voices of night-birds and mammals. Badger is a magnificently dark night place, devoid of noise and the lights of traffic, town and farm.
Bring a flashlight. Be prepared for cool if not cold nighttime temperatures! Rubber boots optional. If inclement weather, the tour will be postponed until April 26, same time. Call Mike Mossman if in doubt or with questions: 608-370-1208.
