2007 Calendar of Events

Check this calendar regularly for new restoration work postings!

2007 Restoration Activities (RSVP please):
Our restoration work parties will focus on cutting and removing invasive shrubs from prairie and savanna remnants inside Badger and collecting seed for our fall Prairie Festival.  Work parties are a great way to meet others who are interested in conservation and/or Badger, and to learn more about Wisconsin's native prairie and savanna communities!  Please wear clothing that is weather appropriate, and bring work gloves and any brush-cutting tools if you have them (we have extras available).

Please RSVP to alison@saukprairievision.org or (608) 442-6677 if you plan to attend any of the work parties.  Meet at the main gates of Badger by the start time listed for the work party, and we will carpool from the gate to our restoration site inside the fence!  Note: seed collecting events are held outside the fence in the plantings along highway 12.

Spring 2006 burns at Badger were a success!
Thank-you to our volunteer burn boss, Jeb Barzen of the International Crane Foundation, for leading the burns, and thanks to the more than 20 volunteers who made burning at Badger possible this spring.  With their help and the donation of a fire truck and staff hours from the US Army and SpecPro, we were able to burn more than 60 acres of savanna and prairie habitat.
