The Alliance has advocated for a conservation future for the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant for almost 20 years. We have been involved in every major decision and land transfer on the 7,400-acre property. We continue to promote good decisions regarding the future of the Badger lands.
You have an opportunity to voice your opinion, as well. On November 8th, 2016 the Wisconsin DNR released its FINAL Master Plan for the 3,400-acre Sauk Prairie State Recreation Area (SPSRA) at Badger. The Master Plan has been presented to the Natural Resources Board for their approval on December 14th.
You can see the entire Master Plan on the DNR website.
Although the Alliance is very supportive of the many good conservation activities proposed for the SPSRA, there are some high impact recreational activities that are inappropriate on the site.
The only opportunity to provide input on the Plan is in writing or with a 3-minute comment at the Natural Resources Board Meeting in Madison on Wednesday, December 14th.
Written comments to or a request to speak at the December 14th NR Board Meeting must be received by Laurie Ross by 11am on December 9th. See contact information (below), or go to the NR Board website.
