Join us on Thursday, February 21st, for our monthly “We Are Sauk Prairie” program series. This month, the program is: “US Dairy Forage Research Center: Update on FarmLab research and land use planning” presented by Dr. Alison Duff, Ecologist, USDA Dairy Forage Research Center.
When: Thursday, February 21, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Where: Ruth Culver Community Library, 540 Water Street, Prairie du Sac
Overview: The US Dairy Forage Research Center (DFRC) is developing a land use plan for the Prairie du Sac farm within the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant. The vision for the farm, or “FarmLab,” is a model production dairy system that advances dairy sustainability through integrated agroecosystem research and outreach. The planning process is intended to be dynamic, and informed by the mission of DFRC, the vision of the Badger Reuse Plan, the current and potential agroecological conditions of the site, and the input of research, land manager, and community collaborators. Alison Duff, Ecologist at DFRC, will present the draft plan, answer questions, and collect community input during the program.
The “We Are Sauk Prairie” presentations are free and open to the public. The series is supported in part by a grant from Alliant Energy Foundation.
