Our April “We Are Sauk Prairie” lecture series will feature a common but little known threat in our natural world, ticks!
“Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases in South-Central Wisconsin” will be presented by Dr. Susan Paskewitz, Professor and Department Chair, Dept of Entomology, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
When: Thursday, April 16, 6:30pm
Where: Ruth Culver Community Library, 540 Water Street, Prairie du Sac.
Dr. Paskewitz will talk about an important group of bloodsucking arthropods in Wisconsin, the deer ticks. We’ll start with some fun facts and then discuss the current picture for disease risks in the state and concerns about new invasive species. Finally, the lecture will provide information about what works for personal protection and strategies that are available for controlling these pests on properties. Come with questions!
Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Our “We Are Sauk Prairie” lecture series is supported with a generous grant from Alliant Energy Foundation.
