The Fall 2018 “We Are Sauk Prairie” evening program series begins with an exciting talk about the diverse fishes of the Lower Wisconsin River. All programs are free and open to the public.

Speaker: John Lyons, retired DNR fisheries biologist & Curator of Fishes at the University of Wisconsin Zoological Museum in Madison
Summary: The Lower Wisconsin River, from the dam at Prairie du Sac to the Mississippi River, has one of the most diverse fish faunas of anywhere in the Midwest. This talk will introduce this wonderful fauna, with emphasis on the characteristic and most unusual fishes of the river. We’ll talk about why the river is so diverse, what the threats are to its future, and what can be done to preserve this unique and priceless aquatic ecosystem.
